Docs/TC Record

Record and edit.

Record every camera with the same timecode and open the finished edit in your editor.

  • NDI · USB · OMT
  • Premiere Pro
  • DaVinci Resolve

Step by step

Before recording

  1. 01

    Pick the sources

In TC Record tick the signals to record: NDI or OMT sources on the network and USB capture cards. You can name each file.

  2. 02

    Format and quality

MP4 is the default format (any editor opens it); MOV or MKV too. Standard, high or maximum quality (20, 35 or 50 Mbps), in H.264 or H.265, on NVIDIA GPU or CPU.

  3. 03

    Connect the switcher

In «Switchers» connect vMix, Blackmagic ATEM or Roland: every cut of the show is logged to build the sequence.

  4. 04

    Lay out the sequence

In «Sequence layout» drag each signal to its track: the program (PGM) on top, one track per camera and the master audio on A1. It saves by itself and is reused for the next sessions.

  5. 05

    Check and record

When you click Record, the App warns you if disk space is low, if the laptop is not plugged in or if the graphics card cannot handle so many cameras. Press M to drop markers during the show.

Layout

Sequence layout.

A generic timeline: recorded signals and switcher inputs on the left, tracks on the right. Drag to assign, reorder tracks and add audio tracks. Regenerating a session uses this layout.

When you stop

Which file to open.

In the session folder, next to the videos:

FileEditorHow to open it
…_sequence.xmlPremiere ProFile → Import: the sequence built with the switcher cuts
…_multicam.xmlPremiere ProFile → Import: the multicam sequence to keep editing
…_resolve.fcpxmlDaVinci ResolveFile → Import → Timeline: multicam with the cuts
….edlOther editorsStandard cut list (CMX 3600)

If you change the layout, «Regenerate a session's XML…» creates these files again.

Common questions.

What if the power goes out or the App closes?

When you reopen TC Record it offers to recover the session: it finishes the files and creates the exports.

How many cameras can I record?

On the GPU, a GeForce records up to 8 at once (professional cards have no limit). We have tested 4 cameras frame-accurate and real sessions with 5 sources.

Can I split the files?

Yes: into 15, 30 or 60-minute files. The exports chain them automatically.
