Docs/MeetOut
From the meeting to your switcher.
MeetOut turns a Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoho Meeting call into NDI® and OMT sources: every participant on their own, the shared screen, the active speaker and galleries. Here is how to set it up.
- Windows 10/11
- NDI® · OMT
- vMix · OBS · TriCaster
Step by step
Five steps and on air.
-
01
Activate the license
Install MeetOut on the production PC (Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit) and activate your license: it is emailed to you when you subscribe and is also in your client area. Each license works on one PC at a time.
-
02
Zoom: join and ask for permission
MeetOut joins the Zoom meeting as one more participant. Ask the host to grant it local recording permission: with it, each participant's video and audio arrive uncompressed.
-
03
Meet, Teams or Zoho: in the browser
Open the meeting in the browser with the MeetOut extension: it works in that tab. Microsoft Teams and Zoho Meeting are in beta.
-
04
Create the outputs
Add the outputs you need and choose the type of each one: a participant's camera, shared screen, gallery, active speaker, meeting audio or a window on the PC. Check the preview and publish it in NDI, OMT or both.
-
05
Add them to your switcher
Each output is a source with its own name (for example, «MeetOut CAM 1»). In vMix, add it as an NDI input; in OBS, as an NDI source with the NDI plugin; for OMT, vMix 29 or later, or OBS 31 or later with the OMT plugin.
Outputs
What each type gives you.
| Output | What it carries |
|---|---|
| A participant's camera | Their picture and microphone. Kept by name: if they drop and come back, the output picks them up again. |
| Shared screen | Whoever is sharing, or one specific person's screen, with their computer audio. |
| Gallery | Everyone in a grid, composed by MeetOut, with the meeting audio. You can have several. |
| Active speaker | Whoever is talking, detected from the audio, without jumpy cuts. |
| Meeting audio | Each platform's mix on its own source (MIX ZOOM, MIX MEET…). |
| Window | Any window on the PC: a presentation, a browser or the meeting itself. |
Tips
For a live show without surprises.
- Fallback image: when someone turns off their camera or leaves, their output turns transparent. Put an image or a title behind it in your switcher.
- Stable names: you can change who an output follows while live; its NDI name doesn't change and your scene doesn't break.
- Several meetings: Zoom, Meet and Teams can run at once on the same PC, each with its own outputs.
- Automation: MeetOut's HTTP API lets other programs switch outputs on and change them.
- Offline: the license keeps working for up to 7 days without internet; joining Zoom meetings of other accounts needs a connection at that moment.
- Changing PCs: deactivate the license on the old one («Your license» › «Deactivate on this computer», or when uninstalling) and activate it on the new one.
- Participants: let them know their image and voice are being broadcast or recorded and, where applicable, ask for their consent.
